Since 1818, the Department of Chemistry at UNC has been a major force in research and teaching in the chemical sciences. Our faculty of 40 includes 6 members of the National Academy of Sciences, one member of the National Academy of Engineering, a Fellow of the Royal Society, a past President of the American Chemical Society, a Priestly Medal recipient, and numerous winners of other national and international awards in Chemistry.
