Wei presented a departmental seminar at the University of New Mexico.

Check out the You group's recent outreach activities! Dr. Liang Yan, Travis, and Sam participated in the most recent NC Science Fair; Robert participated in NanoDays at NC State and volunteered as a judge at the NC Science Olympiad state competition; and Robert, Travis, and Sam all volunteered at the opening of the Nature Research Center at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences.

One is great, two is even better! Two of our papers were among the "Hottest Research of 2011" by Thomas Reuters

Wei co-organized "Symposium Z: Conjugated Organic Materials- Synthesis, Structure, Device, and Applications" at the 2012 MRS Spring Meeting.

Liqiang gave an oral presentation at the 2012 MRS Spring Meeting.

Wei and Liqiang made a short video clip to explain their recent JACS paper on a new design for parallel bulk heterojunction solar cells.

Travis won the prestigious NSF Graduate Research Fellowship! Sam A., received "Honorable Mention", also a prestigious recognition. Congratulations, guys!

We had a group lunch to celebrate the newly-wed Huaxing. Congratulations, Huaxing! Wish you two a happy ever after.

Wei led a group of twelve graduate students to attend the 2011 Eastman Polymer Focus School Forum hosted by the Polymer Technology Division at Eastman Chemical Company headquarters in Kingsport, Tennessee.

Wei wins the prestigious Dreyfus Teacher-Scholar Award. Well done, Wei!

Sam defended his thesis and became the 2nd PhD to graduate from our group. He has taken a postdoctoral fellowship at Army Research Laboratory and will start his new life (with his long-time girlfriend) in Maryland. Congratulations, Sam!

Huaxing was awarded the Francis Preston Venable Award, the highest honor from UNC Chemistry for a senior graduate student to help complete the PhD dissertation. Great job, Huaxing!

Congratulations to Huaxing! His paper was among the most read in the past 12 months and and is the #1 most cited paper of all time in ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces!

Congratulations to Sam! His paper was among the most cited in the last 3 years in Macromolecules!

Fluorine leads to a dramatic increase in the efficiency of polymer solar cells. Over 7% efficiencies have been achieved in two different materials as reported in Angewante Chemie and JACS. Amazing!

After two years’ hard work as an undergraduate student, Nabil published his results in Macromolecules. Congratulations!

We participated in the first NC Science Expo.

Through a collaboration with Morehead Planetarium, we created a new Science 360 program on Organic Solar Cell, which starts to open to the general public.

Side chains are NON-trivial in designing new polymers for solar cells.
