Determination of the three-dimensional structure of mammalian mitochondrial protein synthesis elongation factor EF-Tu. This protein binds Aminoacyl-tRNA and delivers it to the decoding site of the ribosome. The 3-D structure of this protein was recently solved in collaboration with Dr. Jens Nyborg (Univ. Aarhus in Denmark). The protein is folded into three-domains with guanine nucleotides binding to the first domain.
