Research
Our research is focused on three main areas: 1) designing novel nitric oxide (NO)-releasing materials as a strategy to improve the biocompatibility of in vivo sensors and harness NO's potential as a broad-spectrum antibiotic; 2) developing new analytical methodology for investigating protein adsorption; and 3) designing sensors capable of real-time detection of NO in diverse environments. The types of multi-disciplinary research opportunities that are available include studies of:
  • Nitric oxide releasing surfaces
  • Nanoparticle-based nitric oxide delivery
  • Microelectrode and microfluidic sensors for nitric oxide detection
  • AFM techniques to study protein-protein interactions and bacterial adhesion
