Research
Our research is focused on two main areas: 1) designing novel nitric oxide (NO)-releasing materials as a strategy to improve the biocompatibility of in vivo sensors and harness NO's therapeutic potential; and 2) developing new analytical methodology for investigating protein adsorption. The types of multi-disciplinary research opportunities that are available include studies of:
  • Nitric oxide releasing surfaces
  • Nanoparticle-based nitric oxide delivery
  • Xerogel-derived electrochemical and optical sensors
  • Influence of surface chemistry on fibrinogen adsorption and fibrin proliferation at surfaces
  • AFM techniques to study protein-protein interactions and bacterial adhesion
