Moran Group

Outreach

In collaboration with the School of Education Pre-College Program, the Moran group teaches a lecture and laboratory course for local middle school and high school students during the summer and fall.

The lecture portion of the course emphasizes the motivations for research conducted in modern physical chemistry laboratories. An introduction is also given to the principles of diffraction and interferometry. Laboratory exercises complement the lectures and give the students hands-on experience using several optical instruments.
