The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks applicants for a faculty Lecturer position effective July 1, 2013. The position involves teaching and assisting with innovative Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) course redesign. Candidates will be expected to teach in the core chemistry curriculum as well as upper level courses commensurate with their area of expertise. Strong candidates will have a Ph.D. in chemistry or biochemistry, demonstrated knowledge of scholarship in science teaching and learning as well as relevant teaching experience and experience in curriculum design or course development. 2. A tenured faculty member with research interests in solar energy science and solar fuels or in closely related fields. The appointment will be at the Full Professor level. The successful candidate is expected to be an internationally recognized scholar with demonstrated science management skills and ability to provide high-level leadership to university initiatives in energy including the UNC Energy Frontier Research Center in Solar Fuels.
3. The Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for an open rank faculty position in Soft Matter experiment and theory. Areas of interest include bio-inspired materials, polymers, colloids, gels, rheology, and scattering. All candidates will be evaluated commensurate with their seniority. The highest priority will be given to candidates with an established track record of external funding, interdisciplinary and collaborative research, and teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. More junior candidates should demonstrate a clear potential for teaching and conducting cutting-edge research at the interface of Chemistry, Physics, Materials Science, and Biology.
